After 10 years as a professional Doula, I have landed on the one post-birth drink that every pregnant person deserves to know about. I consider it a must have, or at least must-know-about. 

 

Pack the ingredients in your hospital bag.
Make a note of them and ask the nurse on your hospital tour whether they will make this for you after your baby is born.
Put a reminder in your partner’s phone to ask the nurse for this drink, or make it for you.
Any of these methods will work.
Your brand new parent self will thank me, I promise!

 

What you need:

*Any lemon/lime soda

*Cranberry juice

*Fresh ice

*Straw

 

Over your large cup/glass of fresh ice, pour equal amounts of soda and juice. Add the straw and enjoy. It’s as simple as that. The sweet/sour combination will thrill your tired-in-love taste buds and the carbonation will tickle the senses, supporting your need for an energy boost as you get to know your newborn.

 

If your partner is making this for you: have him or her request a cup of fresh ice and straw from your nurse, and the rest will take care of itself.
