03 Jan Postpartum: What’s In A Word?

Word associations are a strong force! They’re an underlying current in our minds that often shape the way we think about things, even having an effect on our emotional well being at times.

Peanut butter…& jelly.

Bacon &…eggs.

^Raise your hand if you said depression.

Depression! It is the #1 thing, word, idea, sentiment that the word postpartum generates.

And I wonder why that is! Because the word postpartum doesn’t mean depression and it doesn’t automatically pair with depression! It actually means: the period of time after a person gives birth to a baby. (That’s it)

I have for you a list of other words to pair with Postpartum so that you can see how much more there is to the period of time after a person gives birth! Ready?
