23 Jul The Very Best Time Of Day
I heard the most wonderful phrase spoken into existence recently. I found it both light hearted and accurate!
So much so that it has inspired these words in response. I am always looking for good ways to paint pictures around not only the work we do at Doulas Northwest, but also what it is like in real life, to enlist professional Postpartum & Infant Care Doula support as a key element in your experience as new parents.
What is the best time of day (or night), for any new parent??
Your night time routine is coming together and you’re feeling good about that!
But most days, right around mid morning, you hit a wall with baby’s cluster feeding among several other daily demands and it’s becoming a dreaded aspect to your parenting experience.

You schedule us to come from 8am – 2pm, 4 days each week and you sleep better at night as your anxiety over the morning hours decreases…because your Doula O’clock is coming.
Your delicious baby is 10 days old. Breastfeeding finally seems to be getting easier in some ways, but now the baby’s sleep patterns have gone sideways and it means that you are not sleeping at night. A few nights of this and you realize why sleep deprivation is considered a torture method!

You schedule us to come from 9pm – 7am 3 nights each week, knowing that being able to fully rest on those nights will mean that you’re at your best for the daytimes. You can pull through this long night because you know that tomorrow, your Doula O’clock is coming.
You are about to go home from the hospital with your brand new twins that you’ve longed for, for as long as you can remember. Starting this new life as a family of four is both thrilling and frightening! There is so much you want to do with your beautiful babies, and so much you feel that you need to learn as you get settled.
Cue the Postpartum and Infant Care Doulas from Doulas Northwest.
Your nervousness is mixed with peace of mind because you’ve arranged for a 3 day live in, set to begin as soon as you arrive home and your Doula O’clock is right around the corner.
What time is Doula O’clock for you? Let’s talk. I’ll bet it can be sooner than you think!
It’s time that we as a society reclaim our postpartum recovery periods and transitions into life with a new baby. Don’t you agree?
Many thanks to my delightful and skilled colleague Samantha Griffin for this post’s inspiration, coining the phrase: Doula O’clock! Sam is a well loved and highly sought out Labor and Postpartum & Infant Care Doula living in and serving the Washington D.C. area.
She is also a Doula Trainer teaching ProDoula Labor and Postpartum & Infant Care Doula trainings all over the US. She knows her stuff, folks!
Whether you are seeking support in D.C. for yourself or a loved one, Sam has my highest recommendation. Find her in these places online in order to get a conversation started:
